Nepal is that seemingly small nation wedged between India, Bhutan and Tibet.
We'll be spending about one week in Nepal, and will get guided tours of several prominent touristy places, such as the capital Kathmandu and Pokhara. According to our travel agency, Asian Trails, we'll have a local English-speaking guide, and travel by an "air-conditioned vehicle". And we'll be sleeping in hotels.

Regarding the Travel Advisory
A few people have mentioned a concern about the Norwegian Foreign Ministry's travel advisory regarding Nepal, which uses the exact same words as for Afghanistan. To be specific, "don't travel there unless it's necessary". Well, you can't have a tour from Nepal into Tibet, or vice versa, without going to Nepal.
This advise probably has to do with the Maoist guerilla, who have been in militant activity since 1996. Apparently, they seem to target the national security forces, so the more general advise is for tourists to not travel on the same bus as the military. And as far as I've been able to determine, tourists are not being kidnapped, molested or otherwise shot at, though Americans are advised not to enter the country.
In any case, the travel agency obviously doesn't consider this a risk. I'm more concerned about AMS, and particularly HACE or HAPE (see the CEWEC clinic's advise on AMS for more info), when crossing into Tibet.
Scared? Well, we're going by car, not trekking. I'm also bringing Diamox. If we do get severe AMS, of course we'll do what's necessary to avoid severe damage to ourselves.
